Thyroid

Thyroid disease refers to a group of disorders that affect the small butterfly-shaped thyroid gland in the front of the neck. The thyroid produces hormones that regulate various body functions such as metabolism, heart rate, body temperature, and energy levels. Thyroid disease is caused by an imbalance in thyroid hormone production, which can result in insufficient (hypothyroidism) or excessive (hyperthyroidism) hormone levels.
